An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse position within Respiratory Medicine at the Northern General Hospital. We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced nurse to assist the Senior Sister in managing Robert Hadfield 2, a Respiratory inpatient ward.Respiratory Medicine is a broad ranging speciality that encompasses the diagnosis and treatment of patients with acute respiratory disease, including specialist care for diseases, such as Asthma, COPD, and Interstitial lung disease (ILD).Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will be required to work to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals PROUD standards and behaviours and will need to demonstrate excellent leadership and communication skills. You will be committed to providing high standards of safe, effective, and compassionate care to this patient group in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team that meets the expectations of individual patients and their families.Main duties of the job
  • To undertake and support in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation ofspecific programmes of patient care, taking a lead role in reducing the length of stay ofrespiratory patients.
  • Exercise judgement in assessing wide ranging patient problems and promote options foroptimum patient care, including health promotion and education.
  • To develop and implement evidence-based programmes of care which are patient focused,health promoting, and system managed.
  • To maintain effective communication with all patients, carers, and members of the Healthcareteam.
  • To act sensitively, confidentially and with empathy in demonstrating understanding of wide-ranging physical and emotional needs.
