- Directing and engineering recording sessions for a number of Penguin Studios productions, working across a broad range of genres.
- A keen focus on talent management and author care; ensuring everybody who records in Penguin Studios has a positive experience.
- A focus on attention to detail when it comes to preparation for every recording, reading each text and preparing detailed notes on pronunciation, character and tone.
- Oversight of post-production for titles being produced, including reading proof reports, listening to final masters and advising on sound effects and music placement/design.
- Regularly feeding back on recording learnings, promoting a culture of sharing information across the wider team.
- Undertaking any research to support productions or compiling pronunciations for books with extensive foreign, specialist or complex language, under supervision by Head of Audio Production/Senior Producer/Executive Producer
- Occasional administrative support for the studio.
- Experience using studio equipment – recording interfaces, recording software, microphones, compressors
- Experience of working in a studio environment
- Experience of marking up scripts for audiobook editors
- A keen focus on detail, with an ear for audio quality
- A strong team player
- The ability to work autonomously using initiative
- Experience in audio editing/mixing software a bonus
- Has strong attention to detail and critical faculties.
- Displays an active interest in both literature and audio.
- Additional language skills a bonus
