- This role will operate on a hybrid working routine, with time expected in our office and a minimum of two days per week on our client sites.
- Provide a full range of Quantity Surveying duties from project inception through to completion, working both as part of a team and individually.
- Prepare cost plans, estimates, bills of quantities, tender documents, and supply chain payment assessment.
- Provide construction phase contract Quantity Surveying services including change management, contractor payment applications, final accounts.
- Prepare data and reports to timescales in a format required by line management and clients.
- Work collaboratively with other service teams to provide an integrated approach to client delivery.
- Develop client relationships and provide an outstanding level of service delivery on a project basis, in conjunction with senior management.
- Drafting and negotiation of main contracts throughout the lifecycle of project development and execution.
- Working alongside the project management team to ensure a successful project delivery, balancing risk with solutions that are commercially and contractually viable.
- Overview over critical milestones, assessing and managing in line with contractual obligations.
- Direct and process change, compensation event / variations on the project in compliance with our client’s commercial interests.
- Provide interpretation of contracts, process correspondence with parties of the Contract and monitor the delivery of contractual obligations.
- Manage the commercial relationship and communication with contractors during the delivery stage of the project sustaining close dialogue to ensure that issues are dealt with proactive foresight.
- Ensure timely delivery of the contract within the set mandate.
- Drive governance processes and required presentation material towards different stakeholders and decision bodies such as the Steering Committee.
- Contribute to further developing processes regarding contract and claims management.
- NEC or Framework Contract experience.
- Participate or host informal and formal training sessions with our AtkinsRéalis teams and practices.
- Degree qualified and preferable to have CIPS or MRICS qualified/or equivalent (or working towards).
- A degree in quantity surveying and commercial management, equivalent discipline, or experience.
- Previous experience managing subcontract packages from inception to final accounting.
- Understanding of taking-off from working drawings, specifications, and walk-talk-build (WTB).
- Must have working knowledge of NEC forms of contract (Especially Option B and A).
- Must have working knowledge of the application of Schedule of Rates (SoR), and Method of Measurement (MoM).
- Ability to work collaboratively and integrate into multi-disciplinary teams or work independently.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel.
- Experienced in preparing cost estimate and comparison.
- Independent working with minimum supervision.
- Essential experience of the Commercial Manager.
- Proven track record in large-scale projects, leading teams with a “can do” attitude preferably in the defence, nuclear or similar regulated sector.
- Working knowledge of NEC contracts and contract management software (CEMAR).
- Experienced in facilitating client audit of Defined Cost and providing record / cost verification.
- Ability to make decisions within delegated authority and prioritise team workload.
- Experience in working in a joint ventures/alliance environment is desirable.
