We have an exciting opportunity to join our North East London team as a Technical Coordinator.The Technical Co-ordinator is an exciting, predominantly field-based role within clean water production. As the Technical Co-ordinator, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of our Critical Infrastructure.What you’ll be doing as a Technical Coordinator:
  • You will plan complex work to repair and enhance assets on our Water Treatment Works, Water Booster Stations and Service Reservoirs Works across North East London.
  • You will design jobs and ensure any resources (materials, permits and services) are in place to allow work to be completed by Field Technicians.
  • Responsible for managing small-value projects and minor capital budgets.
  • Investigating and reviewing the performance of our Water Assets, as well as responding to asset failures and coordinating resources to return them to service.
  • Liaising with customers and customer representatives, including council and local government officials.
  • Understanding and engaging with a variety of equipment, including but not limited to pumps, valves, pipework, lifting equipment, ultrasonic level sensors, flowmeters, control panels and LV electrical equipment.
  • You will work in an area alongside a Field Operations Manager and a team of technicians with a wide variety of skillsets ranging from unskilled through to mechanical, electrical and ICA.
Base location: North East London: Coppermills (E177HE)Working pattern or hours: 36 hours per week, Monday – Friday.What should you bring to the role?To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need are:
  • Demonstrate good business/stakeholder awareness, together with an innovative and creative approach to problem solving.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with your field-based colleagues and key stakeholders.
  • Previous experience in managing health and safety.
  • Possess strong IT literacy skills as all work is managed through a SAP system, and user training for this and other standard software systems will be provided.
  • Take Care of yourself and others. We have a zero-compromise approach to Health and Safety at Thames Water, and it is critical that all of our employees go home safe and well at the end of each day.
Additional skills and experiences would be great to have/bring:
  • Established relevant business or technical experience, possibly with a military, utilities, engineering or planning background, would be desirable.

  • Offering a salary between £40,000 to £50,000 depending on skills and experience.
  • Annual Leave: 26 days holiday per year, increasing to 30 with the length of service (plus bank holidays)

  • Performance Related Pay Plan (PRPP): Max (of salary) = 10%. On Target (of salary) = 5%.
