Sole GardenerAn experienced gardener is sought to maintain and develop a beautiful 11-acre estate in South Gloucestershire. This is a sole gardener position – so you will need excellent abilities in planning your own work and time-management, a friendly manner, good physical fitness, as well as thorough knowledge of the appropriate timings to carry out a wide array of gardening tasks, whilst keeping to a high horticultural standard.The 4-acre garden consists of a number of large lawns, shrubberies, many roses, various good-sized areas of herbaceous planting, fruit trees, vegetable and cut flower production, all surrounded by 7- acres of traditional wildflower meadow (cut yearly by a local farmer).The role will consist of keeping all the above to a high-standard – you will need excellent plant knowledge, pruning skills (roses, Wisteria, as well as various trees and shrubs), some experience in fruit/veg propagation (there is an attractive glasshouse on site for successional veg and flower sowing) and lawn care. The ability to safely use and maintain various garden machinery is essential, and a chainsaw licence would be a plus. There is an outdoor swimming pool on site which requires light maintenance (problems handled by local pool maintenance company).Applicants will need to hold a recognised horticultural qualification and have experience working in large gardens/estates, planning their own workload throughout the year.This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate who is content to work solo, to continue to care for and develop this quiet and peaceful garden. This is a full-time position, but there is some flexibility on making this a part-time position, as we can hire in support for lawn maintenance etc if required.This private advert is being managed directly by the employer.
