A delightful opportunity for an experienced and detail oriented Sole Gardener to work for a private family on their 400-acre Estate based in the Cotswolds near Wotton-Under-Edge.The stunning residence is surrounded by formal gardens, lakes, and woodland. The 6 acres of formal garden draws on elements of the Arts and Crafts movement and includes an area of formal lawn, kitchen garden, trained fruit trees, glasshouse, mixed herbaceous borders, annual display beds, hedges, topiary, pleached hedges, as well as less formal areas of lawns, ponds, and number of large trees.The candidate will need to maintain the formal garden and grounds to a high standard and manage the kitchen garden, supplying the owners with fresh produce. The successful candidate will have experience in pruning (roses, fruit trees and shrubs as well as caring for citrus trees), glasshouse management and growing cut flowers.Occasionally you will be required to help on the wider estate with animals, woodlands or other tasks appointed by the Estate Manager so flexibility is necessary.
We are seeking a passionate, highly organised, motivated person with a positive approach.
Applicants will need to have a relevant horticultural qualification or proven gardening experience in a similar role with a:
  • Broad knowledge of plants
  • RHS level 2 or 3 or equivalent
  • PA1/PA6
  • Chainsaw certificate
  • Tractor experience
The hours of work for this position are 40-hours per week, Monday to Friday with start and finish times dependant on the season. There will be occasional weekend work, which is on a rota basis, this work consists of watering, animal feeding and security duties.
