- Lead our Fleet team, ensuring all commercial vehicles and company cars are legally compliant, well-maintained, and cost-efficient.
- Develop and implement innovative fleet strategies, introducing new technologies and systems, cost-saving initiatives, and efficiency improvements.
- Collaborate with senior management and key stakeholders across SHE, HR, Finance, Operations, other GDNs and suppliers to align fleet policies with business objectives and reduce operational costs.
- Manage fleet budgets with precision, conducting regular reviews and forecasting to ensure financial efficiency.
- Ensure all SGN vehicles and drivers meet the highest safety and legal standards, maintaining full compliance with relevant regulations.
- Oversee third-party service providers, ensuring they meet or exceed performance standards through robust improvement plans and regular reviews.
- Implement initiatives to reduce road risks, working with accident management providers and insurers to minimise motor claims and incidents.
- Introduce performance reporting to monitor and improve fleet performance, plant efficiency, and driver behaviour, providing actionable insights to the organisation.
- Lead the implementation of electric vehicles (EVs) and initiatives that support fleet sustainability.
- Demonstrate a strong grasp of cost drivers across fleet, plant, and equipment, holding stakeholders to account through data-driven insights to deliver on budgets.
- Lead the development of long-term fleet and plant strategy, including vehicle mix, ownership models, fleet size, and proactive maintenance schedules.
- Maintain continuous dialogue with fleet users to ensure their requirements are met and they remain engaged with the service provided.
- Drive capability and development within the Fleet team.
- Ideally, a Certificate of Professional Competence and membership in a fleet professional body such as ACFO, ICFM, or CAFM, though not essential.
- Thorough understanding of fleet costs, budgets, vehicle engineering, maintenance, and repair.
- Experience managing a large, diverse fleet across multiple sites, with strong planning, organisational, and team leadership skills.
- Ability to engage with senior stakeholders and suppliers, driving strategic initiatives, commercial negotiations and communicating effectively.
- Strong data analysis and manipulation skills to deliver cost-effective and high-quality fleet services.
- Comprehensive understanding of fleet legislation and Operator Licence obligations.
- Expertise in project and resource planning, with excellent communication and contract management skills.
- Proven ability to lead change and continuous improvement within fleet operations.
- Familiarity with sustainability initiatives, including electric vehicle (EV) integration and carbon reduction strategies.
- Confidence in using fleet management systems and digital tools to monitor performance and support decision-making.
