- Lead and oversee all quantity surveying functions on large and complex civil engineering projects.
- Develop, monitor, and manage detailed project budgets, forecasts, and cost plans in line with contract requirements.
- Administer contracts (e.g., NEC, ICE, FIDIC), ensuring obligations are fulfilled and risks are identified and managed.
- Manage subcontractor procurement processes - from tender to final account - including negotiation and contract award.
- Oversee cost reporting, cash flow forecasting, and value reporting at project and portfolio levels.
- Assess, prepare, and agree variations, claims, and compensation events in accordance with contractual frameworks.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and planners to drive commercial performance and program efficiency.
- Represent the commercial team in client meetings and negotiations, maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Quantity Surveyors, setting clear targets and supporting career progression.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and governance standards.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of commercial processes and systems across the business
- BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related discipline.
- Chartered Membership of RICS, CIOB, or similar professional body (preferred).
- 8+ years of experience in quantity surveying, with at least 3 years in a leadership/management role.
- Demonstrable experience on heavy construction/civil engineering projects (e.g., highways, rail, structures, earthworks).
- Strong working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4, FIDIC, or other relevant standard forms of contract.
- Skilled in commercial risk management and contractual negotiation.
- Proficiency in cost and project management software (e.g., CEMAR, Candy, CostX, Microsoft Excel).
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and manage stakeholders.
