About the RoleAs a Principal Analyst supporting Children's Services, you will play a key role in shaping high-quality intelligence that provides insight into the needs of our citizens and informs service design, strategic planning, and evidence-based decision making.Working as part of a skilled and collaborative team, you will collect, analyse, and interpret complex data to generate meaningful insights that inform frontline practice and strategic decision-making across Children's services. Working closely with practitioners, managers, and partner agencies, you will help ensure services are responsive, evidence-informed, and focused on improving outcomes for children, young people and families.With knowledge and proven experience of tools such as SQL, Python, Excel and Power BI, you will support advanced reporting, statutory returns, and compliance with national requirements. You will be well organised and methodical in your approach, able to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines. With an enquiring mind and strong communication skills, you will present complex information clearly and effectively to a range of audiences.We are recruiting to two posts: one permanent and one fixed-term for 12 months, with the possibility of extension subject to funding.About YouThe ideal candidate will have:
  • Advanced skills in manipulating large datasets within software applications e.g. Power BI, Python, SQL Server (SSRS & SSIS), Excel.
  • Experience in the analysis of complex datasets using a range of different and appropriate methodologies
  • Knowledge of practical approaches to the use of data to drive performance improvement
  • Experience in the timely and accurate production of data which supports performance monitoring or indicators
  • An understanding of the national Children's Services' agenda
