Working Hours: Full-timeSanctuary Personnel is currently recruiting for a Lead Housing Officer to join a reputable local authority in Rugby. This is a key position where you will provide strategic leadership to a team of Housing Officers, driving service excellence across tenancy management, legal enforcement, and tenant relations. Your focus will be on maintaining high standards, resolving complex tenancy issues, and supporting vulnerable residents in collaboration with internal and external partners.Role Overview:As Lead Housing Officer, you will oversee day-to-day operations within general needs and independent living schemes. You’ll act as the escalation point for high-risk cases, lead enforcement actions, and coordinate multi-agency interventions to safeguard tenants and neighbourhoods.Key Duties:Team Leadership & Case Oversight:Manage a team of Housing Officers, providing supervision, mentoring, and quality control.Audit casework regularly to maintain accuracy, consistency, and compliance with legislation.Take ownership of complex or high-risk tenancies, offering hands-on support where required.Legal Enforcement & Policy Application:Drive effective enforcement strategies for tenancy breaches, including ASB.Represent the authority in court, hearings, or tribunals as needed.Guide the team in preparing legal documentation and evidence.Tenant Engagement & Community Support:Conduct end-of-tenancy interviews and support sustainable tenancies through early intervention.Offer advice and support through multiple channels including in-person visits, calls, and digital platforms.Promote resident involvement and encourage participation in service development.Partnership & Collaborative Working:Work in partnership with internal departments (legal, safeguarding, allocations) and external stakeholders (police, support agencies).Organise and participate in case conferences to build cohesive support packages for vulnerable tenants.Monitoring, Reporting & Service Improvement:Utilise systems to track ASB trends, tenant feedback, and performance data.Ensure accurate and timely updates to case records and housing systems.Contribute to service reviews and suggest improvements to policies and procedures.Candidate Requirements:Essential:Substantial experience in housing management with a strong understanding of tenancy law and ASB legislation.Proven leadership skills, ideally in a supervisory role within a housing team.Ability to manage complex casework and support a team delivering front-line services.Skilled in communication, conflict resolution, and multi-agency working.Competent IT user, familiar with housing management systems.Desirable:CIH Level 3 or above, or other relevant housing qualifications.Experience representing a housing provider in court or at tribunals.Previous experience within a local authority housing service.Why Choose Sanctuary Personnel?
