Employment Type: Full-Time, 4 on 4 off,Salary: CompetitiveJob Purpose:The Airport Freight Planner is responsible for the efficient planning and coordination of freight collections and deliveries within airport operations. This role ensures the timely and cost-effective movement of shipments, compliance with regulatory procedures, and effective communication with internal teams and external partners. Monitor and control site access for vehicles and pedestrians in accordance with site security SOPs.Key Responsibilities:
- Plan airline collection and delivery runs, prioritising shipments at risk of incurring storage charges.
- Liaise with Distribution teams and external agencies to coordinate appropriate driver resources.
- Maintain and update operational records including driver movements, JAS Log, and export delivery lists.
- Ensure accurate and timely data input into the Cargowise system.
- Oversee the collection and prompt return of empty equipment to maintain operational flow.
- Coordinate with the warehouse team to ensure clearance is secured before granting unloading permissions.
- Create detailed cargo manifests for all collections and attach the relevant release notes.
- Compile and distribute daily tonnage reports to the Gateway Team.
- Complete and deliver comprehensive shift handover reports and brief the incoming shift to ensure continuity.
- Monitor and control site access for vehicles and pedestrians in accordance with site security SOPs.
- Manage and issue operational keys in line with company procedures.
- Uphold health and safety standards across all activities, promptly reporting any breaches to management.
- Ensure strict adherence to all customs procedures, including AEO and ETSF compliance.
- Proven experience in freight planning, transport logistics, or a related field
- Familiarity with airport or air cargo operations
- Competency with logistics systems, particularly Cargowise
- Strong coordination, organisational, and communication skills
- Understanding of customs procedures and compliance (AEO/ETSF)
- Flexibility to work in a shift-based environment
- Experience in using Microsoft office, in particular Outlook and Exel
- Prior experience in a secure airside environment
- Knowledge of health & safety standards in freight and logistics settings
- Shift-based work including weekends and Public holidays as required
