An opportunity has arisen for a part-time Medical Secretary to work for the Erewash Community Mental Health Team at Ilkeston Community Hospital, Ilkeston.We are looking for someone with proven secretarial skills to undertake the delivery of a comprehensive, high quality medical secretarial service to the Consultant Psychiatrists and the medical staff within the Team.You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with patients, carers and all levels of staff, dealing with calls promptly and sensitively and ensuring that urgent calls are passed on as appropriate.Excellent keyboard skills are essential, as you will be responsible for the audio typewriting of clinical letters and for ensuring the Trust's patient databases are accurately maintained.We will provide the successful candidate with appropriate training in the necessary Trust IT systems and on-going support in their use.Main duties of the jobThe post holder will ensure the delivery of a comprehensive, high-quality medical, secretarial and administrative service to the consultant psychiatrist and junior medical team.The post holder will play a central role within the provision of services and is required to exercise initiative, independent judgement and decision making within situations arising from the duties described in the job description to ensure an effective high quality service.We are committed to equal opportunities and improving the working lives of our staff.About usJoin 'Team Derbyshire Healthcare' and become part of a talented, compassionate and enthusiastic workforce committed to a vision of 'making a positive difference in people's lives'.CQC rated us as 'GOOD' overall, commenting on how our colleagues "treated patients with compassion and kindness" and "felt positive and proud about working for the trust."Benefits include:

  • Experience & knowledge of using a variety of software programmes including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work on own initiative and without direct supervision within procedural guidelines
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities, organise workload effectively and to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrable secretarial experience
  • Excellent organisational skills
