- Be the main point of contact for press and media enquiries, develop strong working relationships with appropriate media contacts. Draft press releases promoting the work of the Authority. The post holder will be responsible for liaising with colleagues, then writing, editing, signing off quotes, having it translated into Welsh and disseminating the final approved release.
- Maintain and update the database of press and media contacts
- Work with colleagues in the Communications team to plan and create bilingual social media content.
- As agreed with the Head of Communications, help organise events and activities such as the Authority presence at festivals and local events, conferences project launches etc.
- Promote, encourage and manage filming on Authority land. This post is the main point of contact for requests for filming on Authority land, duties will include liaising with wardens, researching land ownership, gaining appropriate external consents if required, invoicing etc.
- Represent the Communications team in internal and external meetings
- Act as one of the key points of contact for all enquiries related to communications in the National Park.
- Monitor media coverage and prepare regular reports on press activity using available tools to inform future communications.
- Maintain and apply the Authority’s brand guidelines across all written and visual content, ensuring consistency and accessibility.
- Provide basic photography and video support at events or during visits, where appropriate.
- Assist in researching and writing internal and external newsletters, annual reports, web content and any other written material required by the Authority.
- Any other duty, appropriate to the grade and nature of the post, as required by the Head of Communications and/or Chief Executive.
- Proven experience in working with press and media, including drafting and distributing press releases.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clearly, accurately and concisely for different audiences.
- Experience of planning, creating and scheduling bilingual (Welsh/English) social media content.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
- Experience of event planning or supporting public engagement activities.
- Confident in building and maintaining professional relationships with stakeholders, media and the public.
- Strong attention to detail and experience with editing and sign-off processes.
- Good IT skills and experience of managing databases or contact lists.
- A proactive and flexible approach to problem-solving.
