
Senior Biomedical Scientist

- Routine use of the RCLS Laboratory Information Management System (LIMs).
- The performance of various analytical procedures including various manual screening and automated methods covering a wide variety of clinical diagnostic tests.
- The preparation and handling of samples and diagnostic reagents and operation of various automated analytical systems.
- The accurate maintenance of analytical records, preparation of validation plans, review of analytical data and report writing to gather, evaluate and conclude a result.
- The routine maintenance and calibration of analytical instrumentation.
- Perform troubleshooting on technical issues.
- Review and planning of validation for proposed processes- new, developed or existing related to clinical diagnostic testing.
- Assist with the training of staff.
- Working to timelines / deadlines as guided by the Technical Manager or Technical Team Leader.
- The detailed writing of reports demonstrating rigorous analysis of results.
- Preparation and presentation of R&D Design Reviews to Senior Management.
- The meeting of targets on established validation projects.
- The familiarisation and keeping up to date with current methods and technologies for a given project.
- Qualified to at least bachelors level in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Immunology or a Life Science subject.
- HCPC Biomedical Scientist registration
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Experience in validation procedures and relevant project management skills.
- Experience in analysis and documentation of large data sets.
- Experience in the operation of clinical chemistry, immunoassay or haematology instrumentation.
- Experience in training staff members.
- Experience in the use of project management software.
