SEND Teaching Assistant - SEN School - Tower HamletsWe are working with a highly supportive and well-resourced SEN school in Tower Hamlets to recruit a committed SEND Teaching Assistant for a September 2025 start.The school caters for children and young people with a range of complex needs including autism, PMLD and physical disabilities. The team takes a holistic and therapeutic approach to learning and care, ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive in a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment.The role involves supporting both learning and care needs, so confidence with personal care is essential.Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students with complex learning and physical needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Assist with personal care including toileting, changing and feeding (full training provided)
  • Promote student engagement using visual aids, sensory tools and structured routines
  • Work closely with teaching staff, therapists and medical professionals
  • Contribute to a safe, positive and respectful classroom environment
  • Monitor and record progress in line with EHCPs
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Experience working in an SEN school or with students with high needs
  • A calm, caring and proactive attitude
  • Willingness to carry out personal care duties with dignity and sensitivity
  • Understanding of communication systems like PECS, Makaton or visual schedules
  • Experience with PMLD, ASC, physical disabilities or medical care is desirable

  • Accessible via Stepney Green, Whitechapel and Mile End stations
  • Bus routes: D3, 25, 309, 205, 115
  • Easily commutable from Hackney, Newham and the City
