Photo Editor (REMOTE LATAM)
- Sharpness, Gloucestershire
- Permanent
- Full-time
About Us: We are a small, creative team that thrives on collaboration, positive internal culture, and a work-life balance that keeps our minds fresh and inspired. We pride ourselves on working with a diverse range of clients, including art galleries, pharmaceuticals, and corporate environments. Our work spans executive portraits, documentaries, event coverage, ad campaigns, product photography, and more. We are fortunate to have been featured in prominent publications like the NY Times, travel articles, and films, and we aim to work only with clients who want to do great, creative work.
Our Ideal Candidate: We’re looking for someone with a genuine passion for photo editing and an eagerness to help bring creative visions to life. We value flexibility, attention to detail, and someone who is excited to learn new techniques. If you are a “nerdy” editor who loves experimenting with different editing tools and techniques, this role is perfect for you. A positive attitude, enthusiasm for the craft, and the ability to work well with a team are key!
Key Responsibilities:
- Photo Editing: Handle a broad spectrum of editing work, from quick adjustments to more in-depth retouching, depending on the project's needs. You'll be working on everything from executive portraits to lifestyle edits, product shoots, event coverage, and more.
- Selection and Editing in Lightroom: Use Adobe Lightroom to create clean, natural color grading, manage exposure, and ensure perfect life balance. You'll need to be able to quickly select the best photos and apply consistent edits that maintain the mood of the shoot.
- Masking & Advanced Lightroom Techniques: For more complex shoots, such as events, lifestyle photography, or commercial-level work, you’ll apply more advanced techniques such as masking, making targeted adjustments, and retouching images at a higher level.
- Photoshop Retouching: Use Photoshop for detailed edits, such as removing distractions (e.g., logos, reflections, imperfections) while maintaining a natural look. You'll need to work with layers, smart layers, and non-destructive editing practices to ensure the final product is polished yet realistic.
- Interior Photography: Occasionally, you’ll edit interior shots, cleaning up spaces, fixing small details, and enhancing the overall look of environments in a natural, unobtrusive way.
- Event & Product Photography: Edit event photos to capture the right moments and emotions. Also, refine product images by ensuring color accuracy, sharpness, and consistency, especially for editorial and advertising purposes.
- Adaptability in Editing Style: Our work demands a clean, timeless, and colorful style that feels natural. You’ll need to be flexible and capable of switching between quick, high-volume edits and more intricate, detailed retouching depending on the project.
- AI Tools & New Techniques: Stay up-to-date with new AI editing features, especially in Lightroom, to improve efficiency without compromising quality.
- Collaboration with the Team: Work closely with our creative team, providing input and feedback. We use tools like Notion for internal collaboration, Vimeo for client feedback, Dropbox for file sharing, and PixieSet for creating and sending client galleries with retouching notes.
- Adobe Lightroom: Essential for organizing and editing large volumes of images, applying clean edits, and handling bulk masking tasks.
- Adobe Photoshop: Advanced use of layers, masking, and adjustment tools for retouching and removing elements, ensuring high-quality, realistic edits.
- CaptureOne (optional but a plus): Occasionally used for location shoots, and your ability to adapt the edits to raw files or baked-in adjustments is important.
- Experience with Lightroom & Photoshop: You should be very proficient in both. A deep understanding of the tools’ features like masking, color grading, and targeted selections is key.
- Knowledge of CaptureOne (not required but a plus): We occasionally shoot with CaptureOne on location and use baked-in edits for final images.
- Strong Attention to Detail: You’ll need to work meticulously on every image, ensuring even the smallest imperfections are addressed without overdoing it.
- Experience Editing Various Skin Tones: A sensitivity to diverse skin tones and knowing how to edit them naturally and subtly without over-retouching.
- Flexibility: Be comfortable switching between tasks that require quick edits and more detailed, time-consuming work depending on the project.
- Ability to Work Under Deadlines: You’ll often need to work quickly while maintaining high standards. Managing time effectively is crucial.
- Experience with Internal Tools: Familiarity with Notion for team communication, Vimeo for client feedback, and PixieSet for creating web galleries.
- Creative Curiosity: We want someone who is excited to try new techniques and who keeps up with the latest editing trends and software updates.
- A positive, collaborative, and laid-back team culture.
- Work-life balance that allows for creativity to flourish.
- A wide variety of work, ensuring your days stay exciting.
- Opportunities to learn and grow with new editing techniques and tools.
- Variety in Projects: You’ll be editing a wide range of content—from quick event snapshots to carefully crafted product shots, making each day different.
- Team Collaboration: Work alongside a talented team that values your input and creativity.
- Learning & Growth: The chance to learn new editing techniques, explore AI tools, and develop your editing skills in a dynamic environment.
- Positive Culture: A supportive team that cares about maintaining a fun, respectful, and balanced work atmosphere.
