- Lead the development and implementation of health, safety and wellbeing policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Provide senior leadership and oversight to the health, safety and wellbeing team, supporting their development and performance.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement and accountability in health, safety and wellbeing across all operational areas.
- Oversee escalated incident investigations, ensuring root cause analysis is conducted in a fair and just manner, and that corrective actions are implemented.
- Engage with senior stakeholders to influence and embed health and safety priorities across the business.
- Monitor and report on health and safety performance, using data and insights to inform decision-making and drive improvements.
- Support organisational change initiatives, ensuring health, safety and wellbeing considerations are fully integrated.
- Promote diversity, equality and inclusion within health, safety and wellbeing practices and across the wider team.
- Extensive proven experience in a senior health and safety leadership role, ideally within the utilities or construction industry.
- NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma in Health and Safety (or equivalent).
- Strong management skills, with the ability to lead teams, coach and support others, and manage conflict positively.
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Proven ability in incident investigation and report writing, with a fair and just approach to root cause analysis.
- Practical understanding of diversity, equality and inclusion.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present confidently to varied audiences.
- Analytical mindset with experience in using data to solve problems and inform strategic decisions.
- High levels of empathy and professional integrity.
- A full and valid UK driving license is essential
