Salary: MPS/UPS (Main Pay Scale/Upper Pay Scale) – competitive rates in line with national pay scalesAbout the RoleWe are seeking a passionate and qualified Science Teacher to join our dynamic secondary school in Wythenshawe. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to make a real difference in students’ lives while working in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality science education across Key Stages 3 and 4, with potential involvement in Key Stage 5 depending on specialism and experience.Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging science lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback
  • Maintain accurate records of student achievement and attendance
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Support students’ personal and academic development
  • Contribute to the wider school community through extra-curricular activities
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and participate in department meetings
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of curriculum developments and best practices
Essential Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Degree in Science or related subject (2:1 or above preferred)
  • Experience teaching science at secondary level
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable Qualities
  • Specialism in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics
  • Experience with exam board specifications (AQA, Edexcel, OCR)
  • Knowledge of current educational initiatives and teaching methods
  • Experience with practical laboratory work and safety procedures
  • Additional qualifications in education or professional development
