
Aircraft Refuelling Vehicle and Plant Technician

- To carry out mechanical repairs to various vehicles, plant and equipment ensuring. compliance with and in accordance with all current relevant codes of practice and legislation.
- Install, repair or replace new, damaged or defective parts or sections of vehicles, plant and equipment.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the fault.
- Prepare, present and accompany all HGV vehicles, other than exempt categories, for airport annual MOT inspections.
- Carry out periodic safety inspections to all site refuelling vehicles to the required inspection standard.
- Carry out fault diagnosis on complex hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
- To attend broken down or accident damaged vehicles and effect permanent or running repairs as required.
- Operating in accordance with Airport, Health & Safety, HM Customs, Security, and JIG Standards and procedures.
- To co-operate and fully participate in departmental and specialist training Programmes.
- To carry out scheduled maintenance & servicing on tankers.
- Quality control checks on all fuelling vehicles.
- Defect rectification on all fuelling vehicles.
- To participate in the introduction and development of new systems and procedures, including those based on IT.
- To maintain work areas in a safe and clean condition.
- To complete associated paperwork to ensure that all statistics and legal information are produced, update dedicated workshop computer system as necessary.
- Liaise with location Supervisors/Managers.
- Ensuring all vehicles are serviced with diesel/gas oil and necessary lubricants.
- Reporting any incidents and providing reports as required.
- Carrying out other relevant tasks as directed by the Supervisor or Station Manager.
- Arranging and adhering to Loler regulations
- Tank cleans, off spec fuel, procurement of parts
- Recording of work undertaken by technician by vehicle to include time spent and cost of parts
- Vehicle status reports, plan for maintenance
- Waste disposal
- Adherence to, and knowledge of HSE standards and procedures is essential.
- Valid driving license with LGV C+E. (ADR + CPC are desirable).
- Good team working skills.
- Demonstrate high levels of awareness in relation to Health & Safety, Security and the Environment.
- Must have a checkable five-year employment or educational history.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an airside security pass and airside driving permit
- Previous oil or aviation experience preferred.
- Excellent leadership, personal and communication skills.
- Ability to repair/maintain diesel refuelling vehicles.
- Basic knowledge of principles of pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems and the ability to maintain and repair them
- Ability to prepare heavy goods vehicles to Airport test standards
- Ability to organise own workload and provide instruction to co-workers.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
- Basic keyboard skills.
- Customer care skills in relation to communication with customers.
- Detailed practical and working knowledge in the maintenance & repair of light and heavy goods vehicles.
- Education and Qualifications relevant and recognised training in the maintenance and repair of light and heavy goods vehicles
