Location: Clay Cross, S45
Salary: £86 – £100 per day (depending on experience)
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time
Start Date: ImmediateAre you passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a nurturing secondary setting?GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and resilient Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Clay Cross. This role is ideal for someone who can positively impact young pupils facing emotional or behavioural challenges helping them thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.Role Overview:As a Secondary SEMH TA, you will support primary-aged pupils with SEMH needs through consistent, tailored support that promotes emotional well-being and classroom engagement.Responsibilities as a Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant:
  • Provide targeted 1:1 or small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and help pupils develop coping and communication strategies.
  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and outside agencies to implement individual support plans.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment.
  • Assist pupils in building self-esteem, confidence, and resilience.
Requirements for Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant:
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEMH, behavioural, or additional needs.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to behaviour management.
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
  • Provide a full, up-to-date CV with explanations for any employment gaps over the last 10 years.
