
Consultant Gastroenterologist

- To take a shared role in the development of the gastroenterology service in conjunction with the management team and consultant colleagues in gastroenterology.
- To provide ongoing care of patients on acute wards at RBH in partnership and consultant colleagues.
- To develop and promote services that minimise hospital stay and maximise opportunities for recovery and independent living.
- Undertake referral triage and timely responses to A&G
- To participate in on call duties for gastroenterology
- To take part in agreed provision of cover for consultant colleagues during leave.
- In due course, to provide professional supervision, direction and training to the junior medical staff.
- In due course, participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision
- To attend meetings of the Directorate of Digestive Diseases, Endo Users and any other pertinent management meetings which are usually held on Wednesday afternoons

- Entered on the GMC Register
- MRCP or Equivalent
- CCT in gastroenterology or equivalent
- Eligible for inclusion on the GMC specialist register in gastroenterology and general (acute) medicine or equivalent.
- Independent in Evidence of diagnostic and additional/advanced therapeutic upper and training in endoscopy Lower GI endoscopy
- Experience in management of patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease
- Higher Degree
- Experience at consultant level within the NHS
- Evidence of additional/advanced training in endoscopy
- Experience or credential as an endoscopy trainer
- Publications in peer reviewed journals
- Entered on the GMC Register
