This role is ideal for someone passionate about guiding students towards positive choices and improving their behaviour and engagement in learning.Key Responsibilities of Behaviour Support Officer:
- Provide targeted support to students with behavioural, emotional, or social needs.
- Work closely with teaching staff to implement behaviour management strategies.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage positive behaviour.
- Monitor and track student progress, producing reports for senior staff and parents.
- De-escalate challenging situations and maintain a calm, safe environment.
- Liaise with external agencies and professionals when required.
- Previous experience in a behaviour support, pastoral, or mentoring role (school-based or youth work preferred).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect with young people.
- A calm, consistent, and proactive approach to managing behaviour.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
