- Ensure all site commissioning and installation activities are carried out to the highest standards of Health, Safety and Quality and in a manner that safeguards the environment.
- Ensure that all site commissioning activities are undertaken in full compliance with GE Grid and client policies and procedures, in addition to the UK and international legislation.
- Test, commission and service installed primary and secondary equipment during construction and in-service substation operations.
- Effectively execute projects in line with client and GE expectations, programmes and budgets.
- Ensure accurate on-site test records, reports and quality documentation are created, maintained and circulated in accordance with GE internal governance and GE quality plans.
- Effectively work alongside other assigned staff as part of a team to successfully deliver projects.
- Travel throughout UK and globally as and when required. Estimated 90% travel requirements.
- Able to work on offshore windfarms.
- Full UK / EU driving license required. A company car will be provided.
- Effective and efficient testing and commissioning of substation equipment, ensuring that agreed work is carried out in accordance with the pre-set time scales and budgets.
- Execution of day-to-day commissioning activities to successfully achieve on time delivery of assigned projects.
- Responsible for the preparation, creation and issue of site documentation including but not limited to RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statement), NCR’s (Non-conformance Report), TQ’s (Technical Queries) in accordance with approved processes and procedures.
- Communicating site non-compliances and or deviations to the Site Manager & Project Engineer.
- Reports to the Site Manager / Project Manager and Commissioning Manager.
- Enacting the role of LV Authorised Person in accordance with requirements of the GE LV Safe System of Work (LVSSOW) procedures.
- Comply with the GE code of ethics.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering / HND in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent.
- Experience knowledge of Substation Protection Systems and equipment.
- Testing & Commissioning of HV and LV Switchgear and Equipment.
- Fault finding on protection schemes and equipment.
- Knowledge and experience of Construction and Field Services site work.
- Experience in the testing and commissioning of HV Power systems equipment.
- Experience in activities related to the testing and validation of an equipment, facility or plant in accordance with the design objectives or specifications for operational use.
- Experience in SCADA systems as well as technical skills using PC / DS Agile/ Aview software.
- Experience in communication with Protection and control system as well 3rd party IEDs system integration.
- Site experience, working at height and working in a construction environment.
- Knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated experience in testing and Commissioning of substation equipment (Generation, transmission and distribution).
- Knowledge and experience of working in a HV Substation environment.
- Knowledge and experience of working on Offshore Windfarm environments.
- Good knowledge and experience of IEC61850 protocol, Modbus, IEC101, IEC 104 and IEC103.
- Knowledge & experience of GE Micom and Multilin products will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge and experience working with various test equipment such as Omicron, Sverker, Programma and Megger will be advantageous.
