Job descriptionAbout the Role:Prospero Teaching are seeking an experienced Head of Music to join a secondary school in September potentially for the whole academic year. You will oversee the development of a secondary schools thriving music department and have the opportunity to work with students and collaborate with staff.Head of MusicLocation: Liverpool, L17Start Date: September 2025Contract Type: Temporary, Long Term (potentially for the whole year)Working Hours: Part time, (26 periods a fortnight)Salary: Paid to scaleKey Responsibilities:
  • Lead and develop the music curriculum, ensuring excellence in teaching and learning.
  • Leading music lessons, inspiring students, and managing departmental staff
  • Support students in achieving success in external music examinations.
  • Monitoring student progress, preparing pupils for music scholarships, and ensuring high standards.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Proven experience teaching in a UK secondary school.
  • Right to Work in the UK.
  • Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or willingness to apply for a new one.
  • Ability to provide two professional references/cover the past 2 years
  • Enthusiastic, creative, and committed to creative an inclusive learning environment
  • Strong leadership and organisational abilities.
