This is new post created to meet service needs within the The Forensic Mental Health Services. The services are based in Ridgeway in purpose built medium and low secure facilities which opened in May 2010. This facility offers increased capacity, with over 160 medium and low secure male and female in-patients currently receiving care. A wide range of specialties are catered for, including services for intellectually disabled and autistic people. Ridgeway offers spacious accommodation along with a comprehensive range of facilities including its own gymnasium, football pitch, cafe, GP surgery, dental surgery and resource centre. The principal objectives of the service are to cater for mentally disordered patients who require a greater degree of security than can be provided in conventional psychiatric settings in the region, but who do not need the degree of security provided by the High Secure Hospitals. Typically, the needs of service users who require high security would be met at Rampton Hospital in Nottinghamshire. The service has a full complement of clinical and forensic psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists and technical instructors working into the MDTs. There are supportive and experienced senior nursing colleagues working throughout the service, together with Practice Development Practitioners to ensure continuous quality improvement.Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will work closely with the Responsible Clinician and as a vital part of the multidisciplinary team in ensuring the delivery of high-quality clinical care to service users. Specialty doctors have long been an important part of the service that we provide, and we are committed to supporting their longer-term career development. In addition to ward-based clinical work, there will be opportunities to participate in referral assessments, which may include other hospitals at various levels of security, as well as custodial settings.About usWe are one of the largest specialist mental health and learning disabilities trusts in the country, with an annual income of £320m and a workforce of some 6,700 staff operating from around 100 sites in Durham, Teesside, North Yorkshire and York and Selby. We provide a range inpatient and community services to 2m people living in County Durham, the Tees Valley, Scarborough, Whitby, Ryedale, Harrogate, Hambleton and Richmondshire. We also provide additional specialist services to other parts of Northern England. We are a multi-award winning trust and are included within the Health Service Journals Best 100 Places to Work. The trust take a positive and proactive approach to support staff in their personal development and has embedded the Talent Management approach within the Trust.Psychiatrists are essential contributors to the majority of our mental health teams. Service users expect and are justified to expect collaborative relationships with dedicated psychiatrists who work consistently as part of effective services. Our medical staffing shortage puts strain on services and puts strain on workforce wellbeing and costs extend beyond the financial. The Medical Directorate and Medical Development Team are striving to improve medical workforce recruitment and retention in a variety of ways and the cornerstone of these efforts is The TEWV Charter for the Medical Workforce - see attached Supporting Document. The Trust welcomes a conversation about flexible working.DetailsDate posted27 August 2025Pay schemeHospital medical and dental staffGradeSpecialty DoctorSalary£61,542 to £99,216 a yearContractFixed termDuration12 monthsWorking patternFull-time, Flexible workingReference numberC9346-SIS-13M2Job locationsRoseberry Park HospitalMarton RoadMiddlesbroughClevelandTS4 3AFJob descriptionJob responsibilitiesThis is for THREE Specialty Doctor post's; please refer to the attached Job Description's for further information and detail on each vacancy. If you have a preference, please specify in your supporting information; alternatively, you will be asked if successful at interview.
