You must live within 90 minutes.Band & Salary: Band 3C, £55,596 - £63,797Brief DescriptionWho are we looking for?We are seeking an individual who can manage provision of comprehensive geospatial and data analysis at a national level working closely within the Technical Authority's Drainage and Lineside Asset Management team. Liaison with internal customers, and external customers and specialists within niche suppliers to define and build innovative business solutions using advanced GIS analysis techniques so these solutions meet clients' needs and inform their decision making.Typical activities within the role can include facilitate the assurance and drive improvement of our assets' data, response to regulatory/internal audits, reviews of geospatial business solutions and capabilities, develop and implement relevant operating processes and procedures for the business solutions developed using advanced GIS techniques, lead the monitoring, analysis and reporting of the effectiveness of the geospatial business solutions, and proactively progress improvements.We are seeking strong candidates with demonstrable GIS and data analysis experience, excellent communications, drive to improve asset data and decision support tools and desire to further develop their knowledge and expertise. Please see attached job description for full details.About the role (External)About the team…This role is with the Drainage and Lineside team within the wider team of the Chief Engineer, Buildings and Civils, in the Technical Authority. We work to provide the business and our customers with technical leadership and specialist expertise in Drainage and Lineside Asset Management. Our role is to find creative technical solutions to problems, deliver innovation, to set effective strategy and policy and to provide strong competence and assurance regimes that make sure we do things effectively.The Technical Authority Drainage and Lineside team is comprised of engineers, foresters, hydrologists, data analysts, etc., which shows the diversity of these asset groups / people as well as the systems thinking approach. We would encourage people with a strong data analyst/sciences background and transferable asset management skills to apply. To lead on the development and support embedment of asset management systems and tools such as risk models, data structures, assurance etc.What does the average day look like?The role of Senior Engineer [Buildings & Civils] is a multifaceted role in that you will undertake various duties including (but not limited to):· Provide technical advice input and support associated with the provision of services for our customers and suppliers.· Provide technical advice, support and input to accident and incident investigations.· Support the setting of Drainage and Lineside policy and standards, operational processes and systems.· Provide the technical input to the development of the standards, specifications, means of compliance and KPIs for Asset Management, including system risks. Support engineering analysis and risk assessment, including assessment of applications for derogations and non-compliance.· Lead on the delivery of a specific project or portfolio of projects such as the Drainage and Lineside Research and Development programme and deliver projects to time, cost and quality.· Proactively research and respond to changes in the internal and external requirements and practice which impact upon policy and standards.· Identify opportunities for technical and business process improvement and innovation, developing business cases and Investment Papers where required.· Support assurance activities.· Represent Network Rail externally to the industry and input to European issues as required.· Integrate and co-ordinate activity across Technical Authority disciplines and contribute to the development of engineers within the practice.Essential Criteria· Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline or able to demonstrate an equivalent level of experience (Level 6)· Membership of a relevant technical body· Broad technical engineering experience· Project or financial planning and management experienceHow to apply (External)Additional Information…Closing date: 16th of September 2025.
