Newhall Surgery is looking for a part-time (28 to 32 hours) dynamic and motivated General Practice Assistant to join our Nursing Team. The successful candidate will have previous experience of working within Primary Care, experience of medicines management, health and wellbeing, administrative tasks and nursing skills all of which are required to carry out this exciting and varied position.Closing date: 21 September 2025.Main duties of the jobThis is an exciting role working closely with the GP, Nursing, Pharmacy and Admin teams.There is plenty of scope for development within the role; the Practice embraces change, welcomes new ideas and encourages progression and growth. Newhall Surgery wishes to continue to provide an excellent service for our growing patient population.General Practice Assistants (GPAs), support the smooth running of clinics by performing more routine administration and clinical tasks on behalf of the clinicians, freeing up their time to focus on the patient.Their role is to provide high quality services, which includes health and wellbeing promotion and routine clinical tasks meeting the needs of the patients and supporting the delivery of Practice Policies & Procedures. The GP Assistant will work under direct and indirect supervision and perform tasks prescribed and delegated by the GP Partners and Senior Management Team, Nurse Manager and the Senior Pharmacist working to PSDs and agreed protocols, within an evidence base and within defined competencies to meet the needs of patients and the organisation. They will utilise their clinical and health coaching skills to support individuals with low levels of motivation to develop their knowledge, skills and confidence to manage their own health and wellbeing and lead a more fulfilling life.The attached job description outlines the main responsibilities of the position.About usWe are a dynamic and forward-thinking Practice; with a 'Good' CQC rating and we are extremely proud of the service we offer to our patients.Our list size is around 11,300 but is increasing steadily. We are a training and teaching Practice and we play an active role in our PCN. Our Practice consists of three GP Partners, four GPs, two Advanced Clinical Practitioners, a Practice Nurse, two Nursing Associates and an HCA. We have a Pharmacy Team consisting of a Senior Clinical Pharmacist and a Clinical Pharmacist plus a Patient Care Coordinator and a full complement of dedicated and professional Care Navigators and Administrative staff. We have an active PPG Group.Our Practice has a strong Management Team consisting of a Business Manager, Practice Manager, Patient Services Team Leader and two Management Assistants alongside our three GP Partners.We have a high social media presence with good NHS reviews. We are also a designated Safe Place, Veteran Friendly accredited, working towards Pride in Practice accreditation and have a pro-active approach in supporting the LGBTQ+ community.We are a multi-skilled team who work well together, we encourage growth and development in all areas.   • Excellent ICT skills, with experience of using a range of programs and software including SystmOne, Word, Outlook and the internet
