- Degree in Nursing or equivalent experience
- RSCN/RN child with current NMC
- Registration or RN adult with significant paediatric experience
- Teaching/Assessing/mentoring or equivalent qualification
- EPALS/APLS
- CVAD compliant
- Evidence of having attained a degree in field of nursing or working towards attaining one
- Cannulation/phlebotomy skills - or willingness to undertaking training.
- Central Venous Access Device competencies or willingness to achieve competencies
- Ability to plan and care for a group of patients.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well within a team
- Committed to family centred care
- Able to make effective decisions autonomously and in partnership with children, families and the multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to teach, supervise and support carers, children, colleagues and students
- Highly effective communication skills
- Ability to manage own workload Ability to reflect on and develop own practice and that of team members.
- Significant acute paediatric experience at Band 5
- Broad experience of clinical paediatric nursing practice within a hospital environment
- Experience of having worked with acute/chronically ill children
- Experience of taking charge
- Experience of working with families under stress
- Experience of supervising junior staff and peers
- Experience of managing a ward / team
- Experience of working within an acute and / or community paediatric team.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the application of evidence based practice.
- Knowledge of the current issues and trends in paediatrics and the Health Service.
- Understanding of audit
- Working knowledge of child protection procedures
- Enthusiastic and motivated.
