
Logistics Supervisor

- Oversee staff rostering for all Logistics functions, including weekend cover
- Manage waste transfer, disposal, and ensure adherence to standards
- Supervise distribution runs and cage segregation (NHS cages / ELIS cages)
- Ensure timely delivery of pharmacy items and complete related tasks
- Coordinate mail delivery and franking across the site, escalating issues as needed
- Respond to major incidents and emergency situations promptly
- Identify staff training needs and conduct appraisals and briefings
- Provide on-the-job and refresher training to team members
- Manage staff performance, conduct, and behaviour issues in line with policies
- Maintain staff attendance records and handle return-to-work interviews
- Support the team during unexpected disruptions (staff shortages, emergencies, infections)
- Manage emotional responses during distressing situations
- Implement changes in portering services delivery
- Report unresolved issues to Line Manager
- Attend relevant training and development courses
- Foster positive relationships with staff and customers, ensuring health and safety compliance
- Proven experience in a supervisory role, ideally within Portering/ Logistics.
- Physical ability to carry out manual aspects of the role.
- A strong commitment to health, safety, and hygiene, with an understanding of Health and Safety protocols
- Professional integrity, reliability, and a positive attitude.
- Excellent communication and people management skills.
- Flexible and willing to go the extra mile to ensure patient care and hospital standards
- PC literate with the ability to learn and use various IT systems
- Ability to work effectively under pressure
