OverviewWe are seeking a Qualified Accountant to join our General Accounting team supporting our Reinsurance International division. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will play a pivotal role in developing an understanding of the division and its international entities. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the production of monthly management accounts for the International region, collaborating closely with our local finance team and offshore processing team to ensure timely and accurate delivery of outputs
How you'll make an impact
- Assist in the creation of management accounts, providing insightful commentary while meeting reporting deadlines for the international re-insurance division
- Work closely with offshore and in-country finance teams across international locations to ensure accurate monthly reporting for group consolidation purposes
- Prepare and post month-end journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, trial balance movements, and reallocations, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Conduct detailed variance analysis and provide comprehensive commentary as required to support financial decision-making
- Continuously review and enhance the quality of balance sheet reconciliations for international locations, aiming to transition a significant volume to the offshore finance team.
- Pay a key role in continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes and optimise efficiency in collaboration with other teams.
- Provide thorough assistance and support in response to both external and internal audit requests, ensuring transparency and compliance
- Liaise with Finance Business Partners and other departments outside the General Accounting team to address queries and provide support as needed.
- Foster strong relationships within the General Accounting team and across other teams to enhance collaboration and teamwork
- Ensure full compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements, maintaining rigorous standards of financial integrity and control
- Qualified Accountant (ACCA/CA/CIMA or equivalent)
- US GAAP & SOX experience advantageous
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
