What is the job?
We are looking for a Facilities Engineer, to deliver excellent service to all internal customers by Ensuring that Planned Preventative Maintenance & Reactive Maintenance is carried out to the building and equipment in a safe and efficient manner through the operation of a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and ensure that they comply with legislative, and Company ethical standards be proactive in highlighting areas where improvements can be made.Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8.00 am – 4.30 pm (Also, potential out of hours work)What is essential to us…· Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Maintenance / facilities engineer desirable· Experience of working in a manufacturing building environment (preferable) & strong working knowledge of building maintenance statutory compliance regulations.· Electrician Level 3 City & Guilds, 18th Edition IET Regulation (This equates to European Qualification Framework (EQF) level 4 and Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) level 3)· Proven experience in Electrical & Mechanical Building infrastructure· PAT Certificate (Desirable)· Attend site for emergency calls, or as when required for Planned Activity outside normal working hours.· Experience and knowledge of HVAC systems, plant, and components and building services Electrical and mechanical systems, CCTV, fire alarms and Security Systems (Access Controls)· Air Handling Units, Compressed Air and Water System· IPAF Cherry Picker Licence, FLT Licence. Desirable & experience or willingness to work at height.· Experience in contractor management including PTW and reviewing risk assessments.· Effective management and prioritisation of your workload.· Experience of working with 3rd party contractors and vendors.· Excellent Troubleshoot, fault finding and route cause analysis skills & have a proactive approach with hands-on experience of carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance activities.Who we are?Thorlabs is a global, industry leading optical technologies company. Here in Ely, we are responsible for the Motion Control and Optical Tables product line.Where you will be working?You’ll be working in our new purpose-built facility in Witchford, Ely, just 12 miles from Cambridge, within the beautiful mediaeval city of Ely. There are train and bus links to Ely from Kings Cross and Liverpool Street London, and our site is within distance of Ely train station and Ely Bus station.RequirementsWhat we would like you to do/ to see…Planning, implementing preventative maintenance and routine servicing as per manufacturer recommendations to ensure the site's standards and assets are maintained and doing Ad hoc duties as required by the Facilities Manager· Ensure that plant faults and defects are swiftly remedied to always maintain plant in serviceable order· Lead the preparation and installation of potential Small & medium installation projects.· Assist in the design, development, and modification of new and current site equipment & support Production Maintenance Engineers on equipment projects.· Responsible for the statutory compliance of required regulations and ensuring all records are Accurate and ready for inspection. Including but not limited to electrical, Gas, legionella, FGas.· Maintain clean and safe work practices, aligning with 5S protocol and supporting continuous improvement and BEST lean program efforts.· Completion of documentation as required, including RAMS and adhere to all associated permits.
