We are looking for a Facilities Technician, who will be responsible for the maintenance and presentation of our site, including the outdoor spaces, at our state-of-the-art purpose-built production facility situated on Lancaster Way Business Park, Ely. This will include building maintenance and repairs along with maintenance of the grounds and/including yard area.Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8.00 am – 4.30 pmWhat is essential to us…· Knowledge of electrical safety· Basic knowledge of plumbing· Experience in contractor management including PTW and reviewing risk assessments· A hands-on approach with strong DIY / garden maintenance skills· Enthusiasm for and experience with landscaping/grounds maintenance· Ability to multitask, time manage and work independently· Ability to take initiative and identify / solve problems· Good verbal and written communication skills· Basic electrical skills City & Guilds or equivalent BTEC (Desirable)· PAT Certificate (Desirable)· Certificates for use and storage of spray pesticides (weed control) (Desirable)· Forklift (FLT) and full driving licence (Desirable)· Good computer skills including Microsoft office (Desirable)Who we are?Thorlabs is a global, industry leading optical technologies company. Here in Ely, we are responsible for the Motion Control and Optical Tables product line.Where you will be working?You’ll be working in our new purpose-built facility in Witchford, Ely, just 12 miles from Cambridge, within the beautiful mediaeval city of Ely. There are train and bus links to Ely from Kings Cross and Liverpool Street London, and our site is within distance of Ely train station and Ely Bus station.RequirementsWhat we would like you to do/ to see…· Building maintenance and repairs including basic electrical work, basic plumbing, internal painting, general repairs, and gutter/drain/window cleaning· Managing the yard area including appropriate disposal of waste materials, monitoring waste review area, organising the yard, and line painting and marking· Maintenance of all outdoor areas including grass mowing and maintenance, flower bed weeding and maintenance, maintaining trees/shrubs, litter collecting/sweeping/cleaning hard surfaces, and gritting and winter maintenance· Assist with general internal building cleaning as required· Stock control and Kanban of materials and products.· Maintain accurate records.· Contractor management including PTW Site induction and reviewing risk assessments.· Comply fully with Health, Safety & Environmental policiesWhat will you get?At Thorlabs there are lots of opportunities for inhouse customised training and development that accelerates your career progression.
