We are looking for an Evening Receptionist to join our friendly team at Paxton Green.Working 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday 13.00 to 19.00, Saturday 9.00 to 16.00 in a rota with other staffThe successful candidate should have experience of working in Primary Care and have a good understanding of general practice.Knowledge of a clinical system will be a distinct advantageMain duties of the jobYou will assist patients in accessing services in a polite, friendly, courteous & professional manner. The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working in a GP surgery and they should be able to work calmly whilst under pressure and within a large multidisciplinary team.Knowledge and experience of the new digital methods of interfacing with patients in a GP surgery will be an advantage.About usPaxton Green is a large GP surgery in South Lambeth. Job SummaryThe post holder will be responsible for ensuring the provision of an effective telephone and enquiry service and the provision of an effective front reception service, providing general advice to patients and the public attending the practice.The post holder will communicate with patients concerning their appointments and treatment and deal with enquires from the public, ensuring they are dealt with in a helpful, friendly and efficient manner.The post holder will ensure all calls/enquiries are routed to the correct person and provide support to the clerical and management staff as required.This post will also be required to cover admin duties two afternoons per week2. Duties IncludeTo be aware of the various ranges of services the practice provides and has the ability to book the appropriate appointmentTo provide receptionist support for the practice, providing general advice to patients and the public attending the practice.To check patients in on arrival at the surgery and to cancel/rebook appointments.To be able to direct patients to the duty doctor service for telephone triage.To ensure the provision of an effective general telephone receipt enquiry service, and advise callers accordingly. Screening and diverting calls, as and when appropriate, dealing with patient enquiries/results where possible.To accurately record patient requests for home visits.To accurately record messages and pass them onto the relevant person as per practice protocol.To recognise emergency situations and take appropriate action.To understand how to use the practice computer system to input, locate and retrieve data as per practice protocol.To be responsible for opening the daily post and hospital post and to ensure prompt distribution as appropriateThe postholder will also be required to provide general reception duties as and when required including: Filing/pulling of notes, filing letters/results and any other duties considered reasonable by management.The post holder will also be required to cover planned/unplanned leave for front reception evening shiftThe post holder will also be required to cover Saturday morning surgery on a rotational basisThe post holder will also be required to cover planned/ unplanned leave for the late shift on a Monday & Wednesday as & when requiredThe postholder will also be expected to cover admin duties two afternoons per week, working with our Senior Administrator, this will include photo copying of patient records, tracking PMAs, housing reports and general administrative workThe post holder should also be prepared to take part in training/educational workshops as and when required.Note
