As a SEMH TA, this role is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and young people, providing both academic and emotional support in the classroom.Responsibilities as a SEMH Teaching Assistant:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing in and outside the classroom.
  • Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management.
  • Help pupils build confidence, resilience, and social skills.
  • Support with personal development and encourage a positive outlook towards learning.
Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant:
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is desirable.
  • Strong behaviour management and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and adaptable in challenging situations.
  • A nurturing and empathetic approach to supporting pupils.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
  • A CV covering the last 10 years of employment, with gaps explained.
