This is your chance to be part of a major growth area, delivering critical infrastructure across the UK.🔧 About the RoleAs an Overhead Line Technician - Foreman, you'll take charge of a team of 4-6 skilled OHL Technicians. You'll be responsible for the safe and effective maintenance of high-voltage overhead transmission lines. You'll lead from the front, ensuring work is completed to the highest standards of safety, quality, and productivity.🛠Key Responsibilities:Lead, supervise, and motivate a small team on-site.Deliver maintenance and construction activities on high-voltage OHL systems.Ensure all work meets stringent safety and operational standards.Support training and development of team members.Drive productivity while upholding Balfour Beatty's core valuesWhat you'll be doing
- To safely and effectively set their gang(s) to work, planning and assigning
emergency procedures, on potential risks and on precautions to be taken to
minimise those risks.
- To liaise with other foremen and with site engineers on progress with the job to
material needs and ensuring that they are delivered to (or collected from) site
in a timely manner
- Ensure that accidents and near-miss incidents are promptly reported giving
when required
- To deliver toolbox talks, safety alerts and safety briefings to their team
- To directly supervise operatives on a day-to-day basis, establishing the
go according to plan
- To ensure that appropriate safety precautions and safety signage are set up
correctly positionedTo act as a “Competent Person” able to receive and interpret Permits to Work,
Authorities to Work Near Existing Services (AWNES), risk assessments and method
statements and to safely set their gang to work

- Understand the site specific risk assessments to ensure all known risks are
- Understand and use the safe systems of work to be employed at the work site.
- Only operate plant with the correct authorisation and training.
- Wear the correct PPE at all times and use any specific PPE as required or
- Ensure that accidents and incidents are promptly reported to the Foreman
- Assist in the training and mentoring of Trainee Linesmen
- Apply appropriate earthing schemes to dissipate induced voltages
- Full clean driving licence
- Experience of working on a variety of construction project types.
- Knowledge of the Power industry
- Ability to work in a team
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Able to undertake work in high pressure situations
- Flexibility - Willing to travel and work across the UK
- Aptitude for working at heights
- Responsibility - a strong attitude towards health and safety
- Valid Plant Tickets (will be an advantage)
- OHL Authorisations (will be an advantage)
