Duration: Long-term (Temp to Perm)Reeson Education is recruiting a resilient and passionate Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in the M22 area. This full-time, long-term Learning Support Assistant role begins in September 2025, with the potential to become a permanent position for the right person.As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll support pupils aged 11 to 16 with a range of complex needs, including ASD, SEMH, ADHD, MLD and other learning difficulties. The ideal Learning Support Assistant will be confident supporting pupils who may present challenging behaviour while building strong, trusting relationships over time.This setting boasts fantastic facilities and outdoor learning spaces, giving every Learning Support Assistant the tools to help pupils thrive emotionally, socially, and academically.Learning Support Assistant - What You'll Be Doing:
- Providing one-to-one and group support as a Learning Support Assistant across KS3 and KS4
- Assisting students with ASD, SEMH, ADHD, MLD, and other complex learning needs
- Building relationships based on patience, consistency, and mutual trust
- Supporting behaviour regulation and promoting positive routines
- Helping to deliver outdoor learning and hands-on activities as a Learning Support Assistant
- Collaborating with teaching staff, therapists, and pastoral teams
- Acting as a role model, mentor, and calm presence throughout the day
- Using clear and structured communication to support engagement
- Encouraging independence and social interaction in and out of the classroom
- Supporting with transitions, emotional regulation, and personal development
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND and SEMH needs
- Confidence working with students who may present behavioural challenges
- A nurturing, empathetic, and consistent approach as a Learning Support Assistant
- Full-time availability from September
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Adaptability, energy, and a passion for supporting vulnerable young people
- DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
