Markets OfficerLocation: SalisburySalary: Full-time equivalent salary: £30,024 per annumVacancy Type: PermanentHours: 29 hours per week (0.78 FTE), including mandatory shifts on Tuesday and SaturdayClosing Date:15th September 2025Salisbury City Council own and run one of the biggest Markets in the South and our Tuesday and Saturday Charter Market is essential to the vibrancy of Salisbury City Centre. Our market Square and Guildhall Square are home to many market and event activities and we are looking for a markets officer to support these. The job is varied and includes physically putting up and setting down the market equipment to supporting stall holders and members of the public with day to day queries. This will involve ensuring people are working safely and that the areas are safe for the public but also include the following:​What you would be doingTo manage the historic and very popular, well-loved Salisbury Charter Market , understanding the relationship between traders and the council. Areas for growth and improvements, to deliver on income targets and performance metrics. Ensuring budgetary compliance is met and contractual obligations for both SCC and users are adhered too.To support SCC activities and other events taking place upon the Market and Guildhall Square.To manage all staff directly connected to the Market.​What we are looking for
  • Good interpersonal skills (customer facing)
  • Experience of Market environment/atmosphere
  • The need to work outside in all weathers
  • Working in a physically demanding environment
  • Cash handling experience including paperwork and banking
  • Driving Licence
  • Previous management or supervisory experience
