Contractual hours: 37Package:PermanentJob Description:The Transport Services Team is responsible for the provision of transport to meet the Council’s passenger and fleet transport requirements.We have a great opportunity to join the Client Transport team as a Transport Officer where collectively you will oversee 2,000+ education and social care passenger movements daily, across approximately 140 contracts and 59 suppliers.This role requires you to liaise with transport providers, parents, schools, other professionals, and multi-agency teams so you will need to demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills. The successful applicant must be able to work on their own and as part of a team, manage their own workload in a continuously changing environment and our service requires you to be flexible to meet the demands during peak periods.The role of the Transport Officer includes:
  • Planning and co-ordination of the provision of transport services
  • Engagement and negotiation with service providers over contractual and operational matters,
  • Effective Contract Management of Education and Social Care Transport Contracts, and,
  • Support the adherence to legislation and policies.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Strong negotiation skills,
  • Experience in contract management,
  • Prior experience in route scheduling,
  • A commitment to continuous improvement of services, and,
  • A proactive and solution-focused approach, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
