Fulham Football Club has an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our team as Academy Nutritionist. The successful candidate will report to the First Team Nutritionist and Academy Head of Performance to plan, deliver and monitor the performance nutrition program across all academy age groups. A key aspect of the role will be creating alignment with the First Team nutrition service to ensure that the overall nutrition philosophy runs throughout the club.Requirements and ResponsibilitiesThis role requires creativity, innovation and a strong passion for youth development. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the academy multidisciplinary team to deliver nutrition strategies that impact players physical development, performance enhancement, wellbeing and nutrition knowledge. The person will also assist the First Team Nutritionist in delivering nutrition support to the senior playing squad when required.The following is a non-exhaustive list of the responsibilities of the role:Deliver an academy performance nutrition programme that is tailored to the needs of our academy players, coaches, support staff and families.
Ensure the club's nutrition philosophy runs throughout all teams, from academy to First Team, by working closely with the First Team Nutritionist.
Work with the Academy Head of Performance to determine appropriate methods of implementing the nutrition programme including strategic support, an education curriculum, individual consultations, group sessions, and match day support as required.
Co-ordinate the monitoring of academy performance measures linked to nutritional practices (body composition, nutritional knowledge, anti-doping awareness, hydration, nutrition screenings etc).
Create bespoke nutritional support for individual players in the PDP phase.
Work with host families to ensure that nutrition provision for YDP/PDP players is appropriate.
Develop and implement an education curriculum for academy players, coaches, support staff and families in the U9-U21s age groups, that includes educational content and resources.
Gain exposure to working with the club chefs to design weekly menus for the First Team and academy based on their training and match schedule.
Assist the First Team Nutritionist in delivering training day and match day nutrition support for First Team players when required.
Work closely with the First Team Nutritionist to manage transition players to ensure that both First Team and academy programs are aligned.
Provide regular communication and updates to the First Team Nutritionist and Academy Head of Performance regarding all aspects of the academy nutrition program.
Work within the rules of professional confidentiality and the standards and guidelines set out in the Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register (SENr) Code of Conduct at all times.
Advocate and protect Clean Sport through the promotion UKAD messaging, continuous professional development in anti-doping and fostering a positive athlete and coach environment to support decision making.
Maintain a comprehensive database of work conducted with athletes, including detailed records of work done with individual athletes.Essential and DesirableThe Academy Nutritionist must have:A minimum of 2 years' experience working in sports nutrition.
Undergraduate level education in Sports Science, Sports Nutrition or related discipline.
Post-graduate qualification in Sports Nutrition (e.g., MSc, IOC Diploma)
Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team to support player development.
Experience of providing nutrition support to youth athletes.
Strong understanding of nutritional needs during youth athletes' growth and maturation.
Minimum graduate on the SENr register.
ISAK level 1 or willingness to undertake training.
UKAD Clean Sport Advisor certification (or equivalent).
Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene certificate.
Safeguarding children certificate.
DBS check with children's barred list check.Ideally, the Academy Nutritionist will have:1-2 years' experience of working in an elite football academy setting.
