
Children in Care Co-ordinator

- Deliver pastoral support, mentoring, advocacy and challenge to Children Looked After (CLA) and Care Leavers (CL), working on both a planned and responsive basis.
- To schedule and chair electronic Personal Education Plans (ePEPs) ensuring compliance with statutory timelines, linking in with curriculum staff across the College and external agencies as required. At the same time, reviewing ePEP outcomes as dictated by individual young people’s progress, needs and aspirations.
- To provide local authorities and Virtual Schools with accurate and timely sector information on recruitment, enrolment, attendance, retention, achievement, progression and destination of students and other academic data as relevant, including unmet needs.
- To operate a system of attendance monitoring CLA and CL students, contacting students, parents, carers and Virtual Schools where a learner becomes ‘at risk’ to develop and agree early interventions.
- Experience of developing Student Support strategies, within an education environment.
- Proven experience working with young people to motivate and inspire them to achieve and/or successfully overcome barriers to success.
- Experience in giving advice on and dealing with welfare issues and supporting positive mental health.
- Experience of partnership development with external organisations.
