An opportunity has arisen for an assistant medical photographer to join the Medical Photography Department at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.This post will require you to work alongside our team of medical photographers. You will be responsible for processing and uploading clinical images taken by the medical photographers as well as taking your own non-clinical photographs across the Trust.The department delivers a comprehensive professional clinical photography and video services across multiple sites and the successful candidate will gain experience across all STH locations.Main duties of the jobThe role of the successful postholder is to support the medical photographers at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and provide a non-clinical photography service.Clinical photography is undertaken on location in wards, clinics, and theatres, as well as in our photographic studio. We work closely with other health professionals across the Trust to provide a high-quality, reliable, and professional service. Your role will be to process these photographs according to standardised protocols to ensure the images are comparable with those taken at different time points in a patient's care pathway. This role will involve processing images that can be emotionally challenging, such as those depicting trauma, disease, and recently bereaved patients.Alongside this, you will provide a non-clinical photography service, including public relations, portraiture, and photographic recording of medical/nursing procedures. This work can be more creative. You will need to communicate with photographic subjects in a considerate and appropriate manner.The job requires a good level of physical fitness, strength, stamina, and flexibility. There is a requirement for walking, carrying equipment, and working in sometimes awkward and confined positions.You must always maintain confidentiality of patients and the service, and observe all department protocols.About usYou will be working for an organisation which values and respects all of its staff and the community it serves.   • 5 GCSEs, including Maths and English at level 4/C or equivalent experience / qualifications

  • Comprehensive experience of processing photographic images using a range of software, specifically Adobe Photoshop
  • Comprehensive experience of using Microsoft Office suite to include outlook, excel, publisher, word and powerpoint.
