Our Council offices are located in West Bridgford, Nottingham in a purpose built office and leisure centre facility, Rushcliffe Arena.Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive - The Role:You will work within a small and friendly in-house legal team providing advice and support across the Council. The key function of this role is to deal with non-contentious aspects of local government law, including contract, procurement, planning, and property related matters.You will work closely with clients across the Council including senior officers on some challenging and exciting projects and will play a pivotal role in helping us implement decisions which shape the future of Rushcliffe Borough Council.Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive - Key Responsibilities:
- To undertake a portfolio of local government legal work, including (but not limited to) property transactions, planning, housing, regulatory prosecutions, civil litigation and general commercial and public procurement.
- To draft legal documents and the provision of legal advice
- To undertake legal work arising from the Council’s function as local planning authority, including drafting section 106 agreements and certificates of lawfulness
- To support the delivery of the commercial work of the team.
- We are happy to receive applications from experienced or newly qualified solicitors, barristers or chartered legal executives, who are ready to take on a new challenge and make a difference
- Previous local government experience is not essential, as training can be provided
- If you have a keen interest working in the public sector with a willingness to learn new areas of law and are eager to contribute to the success of our Council, we are keen to hear from you
- Experience of one or more of the following areas of law: property transactions (sale
- And purchase/commercial) planning, housing litigation, regulatory prosecutions, contract/procurement, civil litigation
