We are currently seeking a passionate 1:1 Support Assistant to work with a pupil in Dukinfield, who needs additional support within a mainstream primary school setting.Job Type: Full-time, 8.15am-3.30pm (long-term opportunity)Start date: As soon as possible, September 2025A caring, welcoming primary school in the SK16 area are currently looking to recruit a committed, talented individual with a calm approach for the role of 1:1 Support Assistant. This is to provide support to a student working below age related expectations, who is accessing a curriculum from a different phase of learning. The child has Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, requires sensory support and can often present challenging behaviours within the classroom. The school require the additional support as soon as possible, with an opportunity for a long-term position for the ideal candidate, depending on the need of the child.Key Responsibilities:
- Create positive relationships with pupils with a range of special educational needs and abilities and encourage positive behaviour choices.
- Work closely and collaboratively with the Class Teacher, SENCO and external agencies to implement and adapt learning strategies, creating a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Provide support for Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
- Implement and lead sensory breaks within the school day.
- Encourage learning opportunities within continuous provision-based learning, ensuring the child’s targets are being met.
- Experience working with SEND children, in a classroom or small group setting (1:1 desirable but not essential).
- A calm, caring, and consistent approach, with excellent communication skills.
- Resilience and adaptability to meet children’s changing needs throughout the school day.
- A valid DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
