Live Out Laundress Job in Knightsbridge, LondonA private family of four is seeking an exceptional and detail-focused Laundress to join their fully staffed household in Knightsbridge, London. The home is a stunning six-storey, eight-bedroom residence with high-end finishes and luxury garments requiring the utmost care and discretion.The successful candidate will work alongside a team of four Housekeepers, the Head Housekeeper and report directly to the House Manager and the principals. While the role is specialised, flexibility and a strong team ethic are essential.The household includes a dog and a cat, though there is no pet care required.This role requires a highly experienced Laundress with a background in private households, luxury hotels, or yachts. The ideal person will be skilled in the care of delicate and high-value garments and capable of managing the household's laundry needs with precision, efficiency, discretion and professionalism. Experience using professional laundry equipment is necessary.Uniform will be provided.Duties to include:
  • Full laundry service: washing, ironing, steaming, pressing
  • Care of fine fabrics (e.g., couture, cashmere, silks, wool, fine linens)
  • Shoe and leather cleaning and polishing
  • Sewing & repairing: minor alterations, hems, seams, buttons
  • Packing and unpacking for travel
  • Seasonal wardrobe organisation
  • Hand washing delicate items
  • Managing dry cleaning and garment repairs
  • Liaising with the Housekeeper team when required
Working week:
  • 5 days per week, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, when the principals are in residence
  • Monday to Friday, when the principals are away
  • You will be required 4 to 6 weeks a year with the family to locations in Europe. Only 2 weeks at a time.
Working hours: 8am to 5pm (with a lunch break and meal provided)
Salary: Up to £50,000 GPA depending on experience
