A Product Engineering Manager position is available, ideal for an adept individual who thrives in the product development of ambient lighting products. We are looking for someone who wants to join a friendly and experienced team, working within a fast-paced commercial environment to expand and support the existing product range.As the manager of new product development (NPD) and engineering for lighting fixtures, you would need to manage your team's activities, allocate tasks, and oversee the critical path to meet key dates while ensuring that processes are followed, the production meets cost, quality, and parameter requirements. You will also:Develop new product ranges, utilising key market insights and your creative and technical expertise.
Oversee R&D, pre-production, product testing, and work with external partners.
Ensure that all new and existing designs comply with UKCA, CE, cULus, and other international lighting and wiring standards.
Work closely with the operations department to ensure that all products and supporting collaterals meet the required standards for correct manufacturing and assembly.
Liaise with production and supply chain teams to optimise the manufacturing, assembly, and shipping methods and timelines of all products.
Seek and onboard new suppliers as per design requirements
Implement and manage the CAD library used across departments, for correct manufacturing, assembly, installation, and testing of the products.Highly reputable player in the lighting industry| Develop your product development careerA successful Product Engineering Manager should have:
  • A degree in Engineering or Architecture or Product Design field
  • Prior experience in an Architectural firm working on lighting products
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in developing and engineering lighting fittings.
  • Critical path planning and project management skills.
  • Experience in leasing with manufacturers to develop new elements and price negotiation.
  • A clear understanding of international lighting standards, lighting control systems, LEDs, drivers, and other electronic hardware used in lighting.
  • A passion for product engineering with meticulous attention to detail and keen on pragmatic problem-solving.
  • Experience in liaising with other departments, factories, and new suppliers. Seeking and implementing new methods of production and being familiar with workshop facilities.
  • Expert in CAD (SolidWorks), Adobe (Photoshop/ InDesign/ Illustrator), MS Office
  • Excellent communication and people management skills
  • Strong technical acumen with a thorough understanding of product development processes
