Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Burry Port, working with secondary-aged learners who require additional support both in and out of the classroom.The RoleThis is a full-time position that offers a varied and rewarding working environment. You will be working closely with teachers and support staff to engage learners in classroom lessons as well as outdoor learning opportunities, including activities such as paddle boarding, school trips, and seasonal events like visits to Winter Wonderland.We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate consistency, commitment and resilience in supporting learners with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAs a Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:Supporting teaching staff in delivering lessons and activities, adapting support to meet individual learner needs.Building positive and trusting relationships with learners to encourage engagement and progress.Assisting with outdoor learning and enrichment activities.Managing behaviour in line with school policies, promoting a safe and supportive environment.Providing one-to-one and small group support where required.Assisting with the preparation of learning resources and classroom organisation.Supporting learners during trips and school events.Maintaining accurate records and reporting to teaching staff as necessary.Upholding the highest standards of safeguarding, ensuring the wellbeing and safety of all students at all times.Candidate RequirementsExperience working with young people is desirable (but not essential if you have transferable skills).Ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent in challenging situations.Full-time availability.A driving licence and access to transport is highly desirable due to the nature of the role.A genuine interest in supporting learners who may display challenging behaviours.A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.About Teaching PersonnelTeaching Personnel is the UK’s leading education recruitment agency, with over 25 years of experience in supporting schools and staff.
