As a Dependency and Recovery Practitioner, you will:
- Carry out initial screenings and comprehensive assessments for individuals identified with substance misuse issues within the probation system.
- Evaluate service users' dependency levels, mental health status, and other factors affecting their recovery journey.
- Facilitate seamless transitions for service users by providing onward referrals to specialist treatment and community services (e.g., mental health services, housing support, and employment services).
- Collaborate closely with local agencies and services, including prison substance misuse teams, to ensure continuity of care, particularly for individuals transitioning from custody back to the community.
- Offer consultation, training, and mentoring to probation staff to enhance their confidence and knowledge in managing individuals with substance misuse issues.
- Attend and contribute to case management and review meetings, providing updates on service user progress and ensuring timely information sharing to support compliance and enforcement activities.
- Encourage participation in community-based activities and peer support groups to foster a sense of belonging and purpose.
- This role requires flexibility and a proactive approach, with work carried out across Northamptonshire, including Probation offices, courts, community settings, and accommodation services.
- Relevant experience of working within criminal justice, substance misuse (including
deliver quality services. * A commitment to multi-agency working and establishing partnerships with otherprofessions to achieve good outcomes for the service user group * Extensive knowledge of the issues facing offenders
