  • The Instrument Technician is responsible for the maintenance, calibration, installation, and troubleshooting of a wide range of instrumentation.
  • This role is crucial in ensuring that all instrumentation and control equipment operates at optimal performance, contributing to the efficiency and safety of engineering operations.
  • Perform regular maintenance, calibration, and testing of instruments and control systems.
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and commissioning of new instrumentation and control systems.
  • Ensure that all systems are properly integrated into the operational environment and perform as expected.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out corrective actions in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshoot a variety of instrumentation systems, including pressure, temperature, flow, level, and analytical devices.
  • Work with engineering teams to identify and resolve technical issues related to instrumentation.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records of instrumentation and control system issues, repairs, and calibration activities.
  • Prepare detailed reports and provide recommendations for improving system performance and reliability.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and industry regulations, including environmental, health, and safety (EHS) requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure that instrumentation work is performed safely and efficiently.
  • Work closely with engineers and other technical staff to support project development and ongoing operational activities.
  • Provide technical support and training to other staff, as needed, on instrumentation systems and best practices.
Requirements:
  • Apprenticeship in a technical / engineering subject.
  • A relevant technical qualification (e.g., HNC/HND, NVQ, or equivalent) in Instrumentation,
  • Electrical Engineering, or a technical / engineering discipline.
  • Experience in a similar role as an Instrument Technician is desirable, however work
  • experience in an engineering environment or working within a maintenance / service
  • department is also acceptable.
  • Experience with troubleshooting, and maintenance of a variety of equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of safe working practices and procedures in an industrial setting.
  • A positive attitude and enthusiasm.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong time management and the ability to prioritize tasks.
