About usUnder the leadership of the Vice Provost (Health) and in close collaboration with the Vice Provost (Research, Innovation & Global Engagement) and Global Engagement team, we are seeking applications to take on a new senior strategic academic role – a Pro Vice Provost (International Health) – with responsibility for leading and shaping an emerging new strategic global partnership for UCL in health with Tsinghua University, China.Since January 2024, Tsinghua and UCL have been exploring the possible co-creation of an UCL-Tsinghua partnership based in Beijing, focusing in particular on high quality translational and basic science, plus health systems transformation.The joint partnership, which aligns with UCL’s Global Engagement and Health strategies, would form an integral part of Tsinghua’s plan to establish a new academic health science campus, and could lead to development of a physical presence for UCL in Beijing.About the roleThe Pro Vice Provost’s key responsibilities will focus on strategic academic leadership to support development of the emerging partnership in health with Tsinghua.This will broadly include: collaborative working across Faculties, oversight of related governance and approvals at UCL, development of related business cases, external partnership engagement and stakeholder management, and development of a shared academic vision with Tsinghua.The postholder will work closely with the Global Engagement team who will provide professional services leadership for the partnership.For further details on the role, please view the job description which is available at the bottom of this page.Practical Details relating to the Role
  • This role is for internal UCL candidates only, and should be combined with existing academic responsibilities.
  • Candidates will be appointed on a fractional basis of 0.4 FTE (2 days per week). Candidates will therefore be expected to have agreement of their Line Manager (and HoD / Dean where appropriate) to take on this role in line with their existing responsibilities.
  • The role will report to the Vice Provost (Health), but will also work closely with the Vice Provost (RIGE), and will benefit from project management support and professional services leadership provided by the Global Engagement team.
  • This is a fixed term appointment, initially for 18 months with potential for extension.
