We are delighted to advertise an exciting opportunities for an Advanced Clinical Practitioners to join our Ophthalmology Department at Epsom and St Helier. You will need to be qualified and practising autonomously as an advanced clinical practitioner. As this is a new role in Ophthalmology you will be pivotal in development of this post.The post holder will demonstrate a high level of expertise within the specialist service providing advice, education and support to staff, patients, their families, and carers. This will encompass the skills of advanced clinical assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment within an agreed scope of practice in both an emergency and elective setting.Main duties of the jobThe role will predominantly be working in the Acute Eye Service but there will be an opportunity to undertake elective outpatient clinics. Assessing individuals, families and carers, holistically using a range of different methods, such as physical assessment and history taking, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests or advanced health needs assessments.Use their expert knowledge and clinical judgement to decide whether to refer patients for investigations and make diagnosesCommunicate effectively with patients, carers and the multidisciplinary teamDecide on and carry out treatment, which may include the prescribing ofmedicines, or referring patients to an appropriate specialist.Ensure the provision of continuity of care.Assess and evaluate with patients and / or carers, the effectiveness of thetreatment and care provided and make changes as needed.About usSt George's, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group cares for a population of four million people in South West London and North East Surrey.Our sites include St George's Hospital, one of 11 major trauma centres in the UK and the largest healthcare provider and major teaching hospital in the area; St Helier Hospital, home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children; and Epsom Hospital, home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC).
